Kitchen Electrical Appliances
One of the business concepts lined up for 2010 is in the electrical appliances sector. In Ireland it's a billion euro sector, with some great players in the sector. Gadgets in the kitchen have gone from being simply functional to being efficiency toys or accessories. Offices want machines that make the coffee for their workers to save time, people want juicers that do all the work for you, washing machines that do the dryers functions too to save that time.
The idea came about recently when I noticed a sales person in a big chain electrical store changed the way i see the sector. I had done my research on the product, seen an offer in the paper and called in to pick one up. The sales person was really pushy toward a competitors product, which I had read online was inferior. He was adamant that I was making a mistake, in the end I left empty handed and bought it online from the UK. It got me thinking was the guy an awful sales person or was there something more than meets the eye, what I found out, after a lot of digging: Negative Commission.
So the spotty teenager would have literally been out of pocket if I had purchased the product I had gone in to purchase. I thought back to when I was a kid, it was done differently. My parents trusted the sales person, they had a relationship. He knew when they needed an upgrade (or not), the loyalty was there.
So the concept is fairly simple: lets bring this content online, lets give everyone the honest information, have customers review what they bought. After all people want honest, independent advice. Some people might prefer to get their appliances online since the research is most likely done online for an item so the customer is already leaning towards a purchase. Hopefully as we won't have expensive show rooms we'll be very competitive on pricing.
We'll keep you informed as the project progresses.
